BREEDING

We are a small kennel in Adelaide Australia, puppies are born and raised in our home and spend all of their time amongst us, our pack, and other people. Our puppies are introduced to ENS in the whelping box (Early Neurological Stimulation), which helps stimulate the neurological system to improve the growth and development of their immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance. When we breed a litter it is done with great consideration, care, and resources.

We do a huge amount of work to ensure our pups are confident, friendly, outgoing, and responsive to training. It’s a full time job being involved in training dogs and raising puppies. Our puppies are raised with a well balanced diet, vaccinations, worming, and vet checks. Check out our GSP breeder’s website (Fenrik) for what we are doing. In addition to this program, we will undertake a ‘lead dog’ test at 7-8 weeks of age. This test will help us identify the drive level and potential of each puppy to be confident, biddable lead dogs when they reach maturity.

Our GSP females are from health tested, proven agility lines and we have further tested with Embark, PennHip, and OFA styled x-rays with that in mind. Whilst we believe testing is important, all parts of the breeding must be considered, especially temperament and work ethic. The studs we have selected compliment our females nicely, with a good injection of Alaskan Husky content to ensure that race focus across all our puppies. They must also be pleasant in the home, as racing only makes up a small part of our Australian winters.

We will not be breeding again for some years after our 2022 litter, but we are open to discuss using some of our available studs to approved bitches.

Yes, we have many mushing friends overseas who can help us make that decision with confidence. In 2022 we successfully sent two puppies to the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia regions of Canada. We recommending contacting us ahead of time to discuss arrangements.

We only breed when we want more dogs for our own team or program. Our next litter is planned for Eurohounds in 2024/2025.

We are not opposed to this, however, as they are purpose-bred high drive sled dogs, we do prefer if you have some racing experience or hands on knowledge with GSPs or Alaskan Huskies. We want our puppy homes to hit the ground running with all the tools and safety skills so that you’re able to have the best experience possible. We are happy to facilitate helping beginners or spending time getting to know you so we can be sure our Eurohounds are the right fit.

We always admired the phenomenal athleticism and stamina of our friend’s Eurohound kennel, Speedbacks. They are our ideal style of sled dog, showing consistency across litters, stamina, speed, strength, and health which is perfect for our limited sprint and often challenging trails. They are talented allrounders with other dog sports such as retrieving, frisbee, lure coursing, agility, obedience, even herding and hunting. Our Eurohounds are easy to live with in the house, and let’s face it, they are ‘just’ pets for most of the year in Australia. The sport is so niche in our country, there is little room for rehoming dogs who do not have the best drive or health for the sport, so that is why we decided against breeding with Greysters.
